University of North Dakota President’s Open Letter to the NCAA

To quote Hugh Hewitt, this letter is "brilliant".  If you have any interest in collegiate sports, you must read this letter about bureaucracy run berserk.

I wonder what’s next?  I went to high school at Clinton High School in Clinton, MS.  We were the "Clinton Arrows".  Is the use of an American Indian tool/weapon considered "abusive" or "hostile" to American Indians like the NCAA thinks terms such as the "Fighting Sioux" and the "Fighting Illini" are?

Does this open the door for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to sue on behalf of all animals for relief from "abusive" or "hostile" treatment when those animals are used as mascots?  My Mississippi State Bulldogs would be in the cross hairs for sure.  Maybe we could change our name to the Mississippi State Fighting Land Grant Institution Students.  I can see the mascot now…a farm boy with an attitude.

Way to go NCAA.  Thanks for looking our for us!
