Loreto, Day 5 – Relaxation

Loreto, Day 5 – Relaxation

Not much posting tonight.  Mardi made me promise not to be on the computer all night.  I’m trying…

We had a very slow day today.  Slept in, ate late, read some in the hammock, did some souvenir shopping, read some more, stayed out of the wind.  Oh yeah, the wind was still ripping today.  We experienced our own little version of "storm surge".  The wind was constant for 2 days, thus pushing the water to the west up against the land.  We had a surge at least 2 to 3 feet higher than normal.  Lots of dust with the wind too.  No one is clean!

Some sad news to report.  The lady, Victoria, that we were praying for last night unfortunately did not survive the night out in the ocean.  The search parties found her body in her kayak today, and she had died overnight, likely due to exposure.  That is too bad.  Our hotel owners, Ron and Wendy, have graciously taken Victoria’s two traveling mates in for the night tonight.   The 3 women got into trouble on the open ocean in their kayaks, and didn’t have the correct emergency provisions.  A terribly hard lesson for them to learn.  Sarah was quite bummed about this.  She was hoping for good news this morning.

Well, I’m posting just one photo from Loreto today.  Another from the Mission.  We’ll be back on line tomorrow after we head home.
