Your Weekly Earthquake Map Update

This is a fun one for all of our family and friends back east that have the jitters about earthquakes out here.  The US Geological Survey maintains a site with Real-Time earthquake maps of California and Nevada.  They are pretty cool since they show all the earthquakes over the last hour, day and week.  Let’s just say that SoCal gets a lot of earthquakes!  You can get to the site by clicking the map above or the link below.

You’ll notice the clustering of micro-quakes in southern California.  That is along the San Jacinto fault, aptly named the most active fault in the world.  We rarely feel the tremors in Irvine, but there have been a couple that have gotten our attention!
