So where are the Hasson’s photos stored?

So where are the Hasson’s photos stored?

As most of you know, we use a service called Smugmug to store and manage the majority of our digital photos.  All of our photos are over at jonathanhasson.smugmug.com.  The MacAskills (both father and son) have built a tremendous service that is worth every bit of the fee that is charged for our use.  Two of the most important benefits to us are:

  1. All of the photos are available for download by you, our family and friends, if you so desire in their original “large format” glory.  You can have an exact digital copy of the same photo image file that we have if you want.
  2. All of the photos are stored in original form.  There is no processing to the photos to make their remote storage more “efficient” for the service provider.  In other words, we have a redundant backup system of all of our photos.  This is hugely important to us, especially in this day and age of huge hard drives that, when they fail, create huge pains!

The link below takes you to a CNET site that has a short video of Don MacAskill explaining their storage solution.  It is quite impressive!  Take a look.
