I just saw the referenced article (BREITBART.COM – Toyota plans ultra-inexpensive car) about Toyota’s plan to build an ultra low cost vehicle.

Toyota Motor Corp. plans to build a low-cost car undercutting Renault’s emerging-market Logan through a “radical” rethink in design and production, the president of the fast-growing Japanese automaker said.

“The focus is on low-cost technology,” Toyota president Katsuaki Watanabe told Britain’s Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Monday.

He declined to set a price for a low-cost car but said it would be “at least” less than the Logan.

Well, here is the website for the Renault Logan.  Wow, a $6,105 car?  Shocking!  Just yesterday, Sarah and I were watching America’s Funniest Home Videos (a Sunday tradition, by the way), and this week’s winners received the standard $10,000 prize.  Sarah asked “Daddy, can you buy a car with $10,000?”  Of course I said “no way!”  Well, hush my mouth and slap my momma, you can buy a car for $10,000.  Heck, for these cars, you can by one and some new 24 inch rims, a thunder thumping sub-woofer setup and some under car lighting and you’d have a serious pimped out cheap car!  I see hundreds hitting the road for teenagers!

I wonder what the quality is like?
