The more I travel (I’m writing this from Seattle), the less I like the airline industry.  I mostly fly Alaska Airlines for going up and down the west coast, and I have been pleased with them, but when I fly other airlines, my experience tends to be less than pleasant.  American Airlines seems to especially like over packing planes and using unfriendly flight attendants.  Se la vie, unfortunately.
