Headed to Yosemite tomorrow!

Looking out over Yosemite Valley from El Capitan

Finally, our long planned trip to Yosemite National Park is here.  We’ve been planning this one for several months now.  In fact, Mardi had to sit at the computer and start requesting our campsite at 7 a.m. the morning, even the minute, that reservations opened this past March (I think).  Needless to say, we are happy to have a great campsite backed against the Merced River in the North Pines campground (site 526) for three nights.  It’s the four of us plus my mom going, so it’ll be tight in the tent!

But here’s the fun part.  It’s going to be cold…I mean COLD!  Click here for the current weather forecast.  We arrive Saturday p.m. and the low Saturday night is forecast to be 37 to 41 in the valley where we are.  Yikes!  That’s cold!

There is a web page of updated web cams from Yosemite that you can find here.  Very cool to look at.

On Tuesday, we plan to drive over the Tioga Pass (more photos here), past Tuolumne Meadows, to Lee Vining, CA and Mono Lake

We’ll take in Bodie, CA and, hopefully, the Devil’s Postpile before heading home Thursday.

This should be a great trip, with lots of photo opportunities.  We’ll post them as soon as we can on our return.

Enjoy!
