As an early Gen Xer, I clearly remember the absolute awe we, as “tweeners” and “pre-teen” boys felt when we watched Evel Knievel on Saturdays in the early 70s.  Man, those were the days!  He was so popular, he had a regular gig on ABC’s Wide World of Sports.

Nothing deterred him.  The “Snake Canyon” debacle; the Caesar’s Palace crash…nothing!
