This is good news, especially for the road warriors out there. 

A lot of highly-caffeinated people were made very happy yesterday, when Starbucks announced it would be partnering with AT&T to provide free WiFi.

Even though I try to avoid Starbucks, opting for Peets or Tully’s coffee shops (okay, call me a coffee snob, but hey, at least Peets and Tully’s coffee doesn’t taste burned!), sometimes the ubiquitous Starbucks shops are the only option.

I’ve always had some disdain for folks that charge for wi-fi access when you are a patron to their shop.  For many years, I’ve been a fan of Panera Bread for just this reason – free, unlimited wi-fi in the shop.

This obviously is an attempt by Starbucks to prop up waning sales.  Congratulations to them if it works.
